Actions for Clean Water Tour of the Upper Murrumbidgee Catchment
Being held on Tuesday afternoon from 1.30pm - 5.30pm
$10.00 for registered delegates (includes afternoon tea)
A catastrophic Bushfire event along with a decade of drought has had a significant impact on water quality and yields in the catchments of the Googong, Cotter, Bendora and Corin Dams which are the main sources of urban water supply to the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). Furthermore rapid urban growth within the ACT has placed further stress on water resources further reducing the reliability of water supply to Canberra and its suburbs in the future. Following extensive investigations into options for additional water security for Canberra, the Murrumbidgee River has now become a direct source of water supply to the ACT. To improve water quality in the Upper Murrumbidgee River Catchment agencies from New South Wales and the ACT are working together manage erosion, sediment transport, and related issues.
Tuesday 7th February
| 12.30pm | Depart the National Convention Centre |
| 1.30pm | Inspect the Confluence of the Bredbo River and Murrumbidgee River It is possible to view the scale of sediment delivery from different systems by viewing these streams at the confluence. |
| 2.00pm | Depart Bredbo |
| 2.30 pm | Arrive at Rose Valley, inspect Creek from two locations Murrumbidgee CMA has completed a detailed investigation of sediment generation at Rose Valley. Through this inspection we will be able to demonstrate the sources of sediment in the catchment, as well as the limited potential this sediment has to re-mobilise into the Numerella River. |
| 3.15pm | Depart Rose Valley |
| 4.00pm | Arrive Michelago, inspect Alignment training site |
